About Epoch/ILP
Massachusetts Institution of Technology, with a vibrant history
of entrepreneurship, has been well known for its outstanding technology-based
innovation and solid relationship with business communities. According
to a survey conducted by Bank of Boston, over 4,000 MIT related
companies were established as of 1997, creating more than 1,100,000
job opportunities and generating annual revenues of over US$232
million. Since 1997, close to 200 additional MIT related companies
have been founded.
Considering that MIT is one of the most important R&D trendsetter
and the window to global industry and market trends, 20 leading
companies from Taiwan supported Epoch Foundation in 1993 to initiate
the Epoch-MIT Industrial Liaison Project (Epoch-ILP) with MIT's
Industrial
Liaison Program. Since then, Epoch/ILP has been helping bridge
MIT/ILP to its Taiwan member companies while MIT/ILP functions as
the "search engine" and Epoch representative at MIT to
access internationally-recognized experts, innovative technology,
and leverage unique cooperation opportunities. The member companies
have been taking advantage of MIT's advanced R&D resources to
predict and keep ahead of industry changes, develop new products
and processes, and adopt innovative technology and management practices.

Navigating Epoch/ILP
The Epoch/ILP streamlines access to MIT through customized meetings
and events that specifically address your company's business challenges.
When you become an Epoch/ILP member, an Industrial Liaison Officer
(ILO) - your company's expert guide to MIT research and technology
- will combine an understanding of your business objectives with
an in-depth knowledge of MIT, managing the rich set of customized
services to help each member company to access relevant MIT technology
and management resources and to benefit from the Institute's human
and intellectual capital.

Exploring Epoch/ILP Services
(1) Faculty Interactions
In accordance with the needs of your company conveyed every year,
Epoch/ILP arranges one-on-one meetings or research briefings or
seminars (in Taiwan or at MIT) to generate rewarding interactions
between member company managers and MIT experts, laying the foundation
for successful collaboration.
(2) Knowledge Base
The Industrial Liaison Program's on-line database is a comprehensive
directory of MIT expertise, available to members only. It is designed
to make it easy for you to access information about the research
projects in progress at MIT.

(3) Conferences and Seminars
To benefit its member companies, Epoch/ILP hosts seminars in Taipei
every year, making MIT expertise more accessible.
ILP also offers a full schedule of conferences, symposia, seminars
and special events (on or near MIT Campus) designed to keep companies
in touch with research developments and issues affecting their industries,
and help solidify international network.
These events are typically open to the public and free for representatives
of ILP member companies.

(4) Publications
To help ILP member companies stay on top of relevant innovations,
benefit from timely opportunities, and determine the impact of emerging
technologies on their industries, the ILP produces and disseminates
a number of publications (Technology
Review , for example), bringing technology and management updates
from the MIT campus to your desktop.

(5) Epoch Foundation Activities
Epoch/ILP member companies are eligible to participate in the Epoch
Foundation conferences, seminars, workshop, and/or networking gatherings
taking place in Taipei and other locations in Asia throughout the
